Go back to step 1Step 3 wohoo!Misc.

Getting files or releases from file servers.

File Servers are usually indicated by + sign in front of their nicknames. You need to list all file servers and go into their servers to get Korean-Manhwa releases (files). ALWAYS read the TOPIC!!! You CANNOT use @FIND in #Korean-Manhwa.

Asking for files in the channel (for example: "Who has the new Goong file?") is not encouraged and should be avoided. We prefer that you check all available servers before asking for help in finding a file. (Note: Be aware that not everyone can enter every file server. If you follow the instructions below, but fail to get into a particular server, just try another one. There are various reasons for the inability to connect, but they are beyond the scope of this introductory tutorial.)

1. Type: !list in the #Korean-Manhwa window and press Enter. A list of all file servers should come up.

2. Pick a server (we will use Delia for this example), and copy the trigger. A trigger is a command line that starts with /ctcp .... For example, Delia's trigger to get into her server is: /ctcp Delia Manga

Note: Just highlight the words to copy in IRC. Use CTRL + V to paste.

3. Paste or type the trigger in the Korean-Manhwa channel and press Enter. Another window (Delia) should open.

4. In Delia's window, type dir to list all folders and files in Delia's server and then press Enter.

Note: There are folders and files inside. Files usually end with the file size (for example: 4.65 MB).

5. You can go inside the folders by changing the directory. Type CD foldername to change directory (for example: CD Red Lion).

6. Once you are in a folder (for example, inside the Red Lion folder), you must again type dir and press Enter to list all the files inside that folder.

7. To get a file, type get filename.extension (you can also do copy and paste. See note above step 3 for copy & paste). For example: get red_lion_vol_5_ch_2_[korean-manhwa].zip (omit file size), then press Enter. Shortcut for UPP based servers: you can type the line number (11F or 69F) instead of get filename.zip. Click here for example.

8. If you successfully queue a file, you will see a message from the server informing you of your queue number. The message will look something like this: queuing file_name_here.zip with priority [#]. It has been placed in slot [#], it will send when sends are available.

Note: People with @ or % or + signs in front of their nicknames usually have priority in queues. For more information regarding getting priority, click here (intermediate mIRC setup).

9. Usually, you can queue more than one file at one time, depending on the server. Most servers allow you to queue 2-5 files. To get another file from another folder, you must change the directory (go outside the folder) by typing CD.. (CD and two dots or periods) then press Enter.

10. Repeat step 4-7, as needed.

11. Type EXIT when you are done and close Delia's window by clicking the x button on top right corner.

12. The next thing to do (probably the hardest thing) is to WAIT. The waiting period could be 1 minute or 2 hours, depending on how many queues in front of you. Do not close the #Korean-Manhwa window or terminate mIRC until you received the file. You will see a Get window when the server is sending you the file.

13. You can check the status of your queues, but do not do it often. File servers hate it when you go in and out their servers too often. To check your status, you must first go into that server (for example: Delia's server) and type queue in the Delia's window . You will see the list of queues in Delia's window and you can check whether your queues moved up or not.

14. Other commands: sends (to view current sends of that server), clr_queues (to delete all of your queues), and clr_queue # (to delete a queue)

Next step: Viewing downloaded files.
